Capture Your Grief-Day 3. Myth

But you knew he was sick...

We have been told this so many times, but you knew he was sick.  While it may have helped some, it does not make it easier really.  We knew he might never come home, but knowing it might happen and it actually happening are two completely different things.  There are so many other myths about our situation, so maybe one day I will find time to write about all of those myths.

  1. before struggling with infertility I said a lot of these "insensitive" things too-"just adopt" "at least you get to have fun trying' (I was single) "it'll happen" "at least you know you can get pregnant. I was trying to be nice and to relate...I didn't realize how painful these things are till I miscarried and till I struggled and till I realized adoption is an expensive route too. I'm glad you are addressing these myths! People mean well but these comments are not helpful.

  2. I hate that myth. Knowing isn't any better than not knowing- it all sucks. I wanted to let you know I nominated you for a Sunshine Award- don't feel obligated to respond-
