First I am alive still! I finished 2 weeks worth of final exams followed by 2 weeks of qualifying exams and now I am back to real life!
As everyone is wanting to know we now know for sure the sex of our little one! We had another ultrasound today and confirmed what the M21 results stated we are having a little:
BOY!!!!!
We are so excited and can't wait to meet this little guy!
Since we can't catch a break on anything here is an update on our ultrasound today:
During our last ultrasound they indicated that his stomach was posterior and not where it was suppose to be. They said this could be because he just hadn't developed yet etc or it could mean a complication. Well guess what it means a complication. It appears our little guy has a diaphragmatic hernia. It is on his left side and appears at this time to only involve his stomach and bowels. Of course this is still not good, but it is better than the alternative (it could involve his kidneys, liver, spleen, bladder etc). Basically he has a hole in his diaphragm that has allowed his organs to move up by his heart which of course is not where they belong! So what does this all mean??? It means a lot more doctor's appointments between now and when he is born and more than likely it means surgery when he is only days old. We are going to see Dr. Kays at Shands, if anyone has any information on him please let me know! He is suppose to be amazing and one of the top in the country, so we are blessed he is only miles from our house. Once we talk with him in the next few weeks we will have a better idea of everything. He are also meeting with the pediatric cardiologist who will assist in the surgery and who will keep a really close eye on him. The biggest problem with babies with this condition is that their lungs are not able to develop enough because their out of place organs are preventing them from growing normally. It is really important that he is monitored closely and regularly to ensure this doesn't happen.
At this point we have more questions than answer for sure, but I am confident of a few things:
1) first and foremost God is in control and He has a plan. He knows exactly what is going to happen to our little guy.
2) We could not ask for better medical care than what we are getting at Shands. All of the doctors so far have been great and I feel that when we meet the next two they will be great as well.
3) Regardless what happens we love our little guy and can't wait to be his parents!
I don't know much else at this point but I know that! We really appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we learn more about all of this and make a plan for our little guy. I will try my hardest to keep you updated better than I have been recently!

Test results are in
Our M21 test results are in and they are came back normal! Praise God! While everything would have been perfectly fine if baby had Downs I am relived of course that baby is going to be healthy. Thank you to everyone who said a prayer for us this past week.
I have finished my last final today which is a relief as well. I have qualifying exams beginning May 13 for two weeks. While I have to study for them over the next week or so tonight I am going to try and relax. I of course got home today to relax and first thing I do....get sick! I had been feeling so much better the past 10 days or so and then today. Oh well I guess it is better then everyday or multiple times. Baby steps to feeling better I guess.
